This feature is automatically disabled if the connected device does not support the Message Access Profile (MAP). For detailed compatibility and setup instructions, refer to your phone’s owner’s manual.
NOTE:
Many mobile phones require special permission to enable text messaging integration. During Bluetooth pairing, check your phone’s display for permission requests. On some devices, notifications must be enabled in the Bluetooth menu for messages to appear on the Nissan Sentra display. Text message integration requires MAP (Message Access Profile) support for both receiving and sending messages. Some phones may support only limited functionality. For updated compatibility details, refer to www.nissanusa.com/bluetooth or www.nissan.ca/bluetooth, as well as your device documentation.
The Nissan Sentra text messaging system allows you to send and receive text messages through the vehicle interface, providing added convenience while maintaining hands-free operation.
The availability of text messaging features may vary depending on the connected cellular phone and its software configuration.
When a paired phone receives a text message, a notification appears on the Nissan Sentra control panel display.
To review the message immediately, touch the "Read" key. Touch the "Ignore" key to store the message and review it later.
Text messaging functions can be accessed through the Nissan Sentra Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System or directly through the control panel interface.
Text messaging using Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System (if so equipped)
Sending a text message (if so equipped)
1. Press and hold the voice command button on the steering wheel for less than 1.5 seconds.
2. After the tone, say “Send Text.”
3. The system will present a list of options to select the recipient of the message. Available selections include:
4. After choosing a recipient, the system will prompt you to select a message.
Nine predefined messages are available for quick responses.
After the tone, speak one of the following predefined messages:
Reading a received text message
1. Press and hold the
button on the steering wheel for less than 1.5 seconds.
2. After the tone, say “Read Text.”
The Nissan Sentra display will show a list of up to 20 messages, including sender information and delivery time. Touch the "Next" key on the screen to scroll through all available messages.
To open a specific message, press the
button on the steering wheel and speak the number shown on the display.
The following voice options are available:
Siri Eyes Free
If the connected phone supports Siri, Siri Eyes Free can also be used in the Nissan Sentra to create and send custom messages directly through the phone.
NOTE:
Text messages are displayed only when the vehicle speed is below 5 mph (8 km/h).
NOTE:
For Apple iPhone devices, text messages can only be sent using Siri functionality.
Text messaging using the control panel
Display received message list
1. Press the
button on the Nissan Sentra control panel to access the message list.
2. Touch the "Text Message" key on the screen in your Nissan Sentra to open the
messaging interface.
3. Touch an item in the list to read the message details or select a reply option
using the Nissan Sentra display.
Up to 100 messages can be stored in the message list, allowing the Nissan Sentra to keep a clear history of recent conversations for convenient access.
Received message screen
Touching the "Read" key on the incoming message notification screen, or selecting a message directly from the message list, will display the full contents of the received message on the Nissan Sentra control panel display.
This screen is designed to provide clear visibility and simple interaction while maintaining hands-free convenience.

This function may not be supported on all cellular phones and depends on device compatibility with the Nissan Sentra Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System.
1. Press the
button on the control panel to access phone-related functions.
2. Touch the "Text Message" key on the Nissan Sentra screen.
3. Touch the "Create Message" key to begin composing a new message using predefined responses.
