Diagnosis condition |
Diagnosis is permitted when all of the following conditions are satisfied: a) Throttle valve opening angle < 6.27 deg b) Nissan Sentra Vehicle speed < 3 km/h (2 MPH) c) 20 °C (68 °F) < CVT fluid temperature < 100 °C (212 °F) d) Input speed before select N→D or N(P)→R > 500 rpm e) Shift position: D, L or R position f) Stay time in the P/N position for 3 sec or more just before shifting to the other positions. |

DC stands for “DRIVING CYCLE” and indicates a series of driving cycle of “Ignition switch OFF → ON → driving → OFF”.

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
PREPARATION BEFORE WORK
If another "DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE" occurs just before, ignition switch OFF and wait for at least 10 seconds, then perform the next test.
TESTING CONDITION:
Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is more than 10 V.
>>GO TO 2.
CHECK DTC DETECTION
Start the engine.
Continue to maintain the following conditions during this procedure.

CVT fluid temperature |
: 20 °C (68 °F) - 100 °C (212 °F) |
Depress the brake pedal.
Shift the selector lever from "P" position to "R" position and wait for 5 seconds.
Shift the selector lever to "N" position.
Shift the selector lever to "D" posiiton and wait for 5 seconds.
Sihft the selector lever to "N" position.
Shift the selector lever to "R" position and wait for 5 seconds.
Shift the selector lever to "P" position.
Repeat step 3 to 8 two times.
Check the DTC.
Is "P2809-00" detected?
YES >>Proceed to Diagnosis Procedure.
NO-1>>To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.
NO-2>>Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END
Diagnosis Procedure
INSPECT CVT STEEL BELT
IInspect the CVT steel belt. Refer to Component Inspection.
Is CVT steel belt OK?
YES >>GO TO 2.
NO >>GO TO 4.
CHECK SELECT SOLENOID VALVE CIRCUIT - 1
Disconnect TCM harness connector.
Disconnect CVT unit harness connector.
Check resistance between TCM harness connector terminal and CVT unit harness connector terminal.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES >>GO TO 3.
NO >>Repair harness or connector.
REPLACE CONTROL VALVE
Replace control valve. Refer to Removal and Installation.
>>GO TO 6.
CHECK SELECT SOLENOID VALVE CIRCUIT - 2
Disconnect TCM harness connector.
Disconnect CVT unit harness connector.
Check resistance between TCM harness connector terminal and CVT unit harness connector terminal.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES >>GO TO 5.
NO >>Repair harness or connector.
GO TO 5.
REPLACE BELT AND PULLEYS
Replace belt and pulleys. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly.
>>GO TO 6.
CHECK DTC DETECTION
Perform DTC confirmation procedure. Refer to DTC Description.
Is "P2809-00" detected again?
YES >>Replace TCM. Refer to Removal and Installation.
NO >>INSPECTION END
