Component Function Check

1. CHECK FUNCTION

   1. CONSULT

      1. Select “Hood switch” and “HOOD SW (CAN)” in “Data Monitor” mode of “IPDM E/R”.

      2. Check “Hood switch” and “HOOD SW (CAN)” indication under the following condition.

      Monitor item	Condition		Indication
      Hood switch	Hood	Open	Close
      		Close	Open
      HOOD SW (CAN)		Open	OPEN
      		Close	CLOSE

   Is the indication normal?

   YES >>

   Hood switch is OK.

   NO >>

   Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

1. CHECK HOOD SWITCH SIGNAL

   1. 1. Ignition switch OFF.

      2. Check voltage between hood switch harness connector and ground.

      (+)		(–)	Condition	Voltage (Approx.)
      Hood switch
      Connector	Terminal
      E58	2	Ground	Close the hood	0 – 1 V
      			Open the hood	Battery voltage

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   GO TO 3.

   NO >>

   GO TO 2.

2. CHECK HOOD SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT

   1. 1. Disconnect IPDM E/R connector and hood switch connector.

      2. Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and hood switch harness connector.

         IPDM E/R		Hood switch		Continuity
         Connector	Terminal	Connector	Terminal
         E48	52	E58	2	Yes

      3. Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.

         IPDM E/R		—	Continuity
         Connector	Terminal
         E48	52	Ground	No

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to Removal and Installation.

   NO >>

   Repair or replace harness.

3. CHECK HOOD SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT

   1. Check continuity between hood switch harness connector and ground.

      Hood switch		—	Continuity
      Connector	Terminal
      E58	1	Ground	Yes

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   GO TO 4.

   NO >>

   Repair or replace harness.

4. CHECK HOOD SWITCH

   1. Refer to Component Inspection.

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   GO TO 5.

   NO >>

   Replace hood lock assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation.

5. CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT

   1. Refer to Intermittent Incident.

   >>

   Inspection End.

   YES>>

   Inspection End.

   NO>>

   Replace hood lock assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation.
