DESCRIPTION

• Sonar sensors installed in the rear bumpers detect obstacles at the rear of the Nissan Sentra vehicle.

• Sonar control unit controls the sonar buzzer and sonar indicator according to the distance from an obstacle detected by the sonar sensors.

SONAR SYSTEM ACTIVATION CONDITION

Sonar system alerts the driver of the presence of obstacles with the sonar buzzer and sonar indicator under the following conditions:

Note:

• When an obstacle is detected by the rear sensors, the sonar buzzer sounds.

• The sonar control unit activates the sonar buzzer approximately 0.5 seconds after detecting the reverse signal.

• The following items can be set using the sonar system settings screen of the combination meter:

  • System ON/OFF.

  • Sonar sensor detection range.

  • Sonar buzzer volume.

OBSTACLE DETECTION DISTANCE

The sonar control unit controls the sonar buzzer and sonar indicator according to the distance from an obstacle.

Warning Buzzer Frequency

• As the Nissan Sentra vehicle approaches an obstacle, the sonar buzzer output frequency cycle becomes shorter.

• The sensor nearest to the detected obstacle applies the sonar buzzer output frequency if more than one sensor detects an obstacle at the same time.

Sonar Indicator

• The sonar control unit sends a CAN communication signal to the combination meter to illuminate the sonar indicator in three stages (green, yellow, and red), according to the distance from an obstacle.

  

• Detection distance of an obstacle changes as shown in the table below:
