
With the NISSAN Intelligent Key system, the Nissan Sentra allows you to lock or unlock the doors and trunk lid without removing the Intelligent Key from your pocket, bag, or purse, providing everyday convenience and enhanced security.
When you carry the Intelligent Key with you, all doors and the trunk lid of the Nissan Sentra can be locked or unlocked by pressing the door handle request switch (if so equipped), as long as the key is within the normal operating range.
Locking doors


1. Move the shift lever to the P (Park) position for vehicles equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), or to the N (Neutral) position for manual transmission models, then apply the parking brake. Place the ignition switch in the LOCK position and confirm that you are carrying the Intelligent Key.
2. Close all doors and the trunk lid.
3. Press any door handle request switch (if so equipped) 1 while carrying the Intelligent Key.
4. All doors and the trunk lid of the Nissan Sentra will lock.
5. The hazard warning lights flash twice and an outside chime sounds twice, confirming that the vehicle is locked.
NOTE:
WARNING
After locking the doors using the request switch (if so equipped), always confirm that the doors are securely locked by pulling the door handles.
Failure to follow this precaution could result in the doors being unintentionally unlocked, which may reduce the safety and security of your Nissan Sentra.
CAUTION
Lockout protection
To help prevent accidental locking of the Intelligent Key inside the Nissan Sentra, the Intelligent Key system is equipped with a lockout protection feature.
If the driver’s door is open, the doors are locked, and the Intelligent Key is placed inside the vehicle before all doors are closed, the doors will automatically unlock and a chime will sound. This alerts you that the Intelligent Key has been left inside. However, if another Intelligent Key is present outside the vehicle, the doors can still be locked.
NOTE:
The doors may not lock if the Intelligent Key is held in the same hand used to operate the request switch (if so equipped). Place the Intelligent Key in a pocket, purse, or your other hand before locking the vehicle.
CAUTION
Lockout protection may not function under the following conditions:

Unlocking doors
Driver's door
1. Carry the Intelligent Key with you.
2. Press the door handle request switch (if so equipped) 1 once.
3. The hazard warning lights flash once and the outside chime sounds once, indicating that the driver’s door is unlocked.
4. Press the door handle request switch (if so equipped) again within 1 minute to unlock all doors and the trunk lid of the Nissan Sentra.

Except driver's door
1. Carry the NISSAN Intelligent Key with you when approaching your Nissan Sentra.
2. Push the door handle request switch (if so equipped) 1 to unlock all doors except the driver’s door.
3. The hazard warning lights flash once and the outside chime sounds once, confirming that the unlocking operation has been completed.
If a door handle is pulled while the system is unlocking the doors, that specific door may remain locked.
Return the door handle to its original position to allow the door to unlock properly. If the door still does not unlock, press the door handle request switch (if so equipped) again to unlock the door on your Nissan Sentra.
All doors and the trunk lid will automatically lock again unless one of the following actions is performed within 60 seconds after pressing the request switch (if so equipped):
Using the interior lights
The interior lights of the Nissan Sentra illuminate for a short period of time when a door is unlocked, provided the interior light switch is not set to the OFF position.
You can turn off the interior lights immediately without waiting for the timer by performing one of the following operations:

Opening the trunk lid
1. While carrying the NISSAN Intelligent Key, press the trunk opener request switch (if so equipped) A on your Nissan Sentra.
2. The trunk will unlatch automatically, and a chime will sound three times to indicate successful operation.
3. Lift the trunk lid upward to fully open the trunk compartment.
WARNING
After locking the trunk, always confirm that it is securely locked by operating the trunk opener request switch (if so equipped) within three seconds of locking. Failure to verify proper trunk locking may result in the trunk being unintentionally unlocked, which could reduce the safety and security of your Nissan Sentra.
