Power moonroof

The power moonroof on the Nissan Sentra operates only when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, providing controlled and safe operation while driving.
In addition, the power moonroof remains operational for a short period even after the ignition switch is moved to the AUTO ACC or OFF position. If the driver’s door is opened during this retained power period, power to the moonroof is automatically canceled.
Sliding the moonroof
To fully open or close the moonroof, push the switch to the open position 1 or the closed position 2 and release it; holding the switch is not necessary.
The moonroof glass will automatically slide to the fully open or fully closed position. To stop movement at any point, press the switch again while the moonroof is opening or closing.
Tilting the moonroof
To tilt the moonroof upward, first ensure that the moonroof is fully closed, then push the switch 3 and release it. To tilt the moonroof downward, push the switch to the tilt-down position 2.
Resetting the moonroof switch
If the moonroof on your Nissan Sentra does not operate correctly, perform the following procedure to reinitialize the moonroof operating system.
1. If the moonroof is open, close it completely by repeatedly pressing the moonroof switch to the closed position 2.
2. Push and hold the switch in the closed position 2 for approximately 15 seconds.
3. Release the switch after the moonroof moves up, then down, and finally returns to the full tilt-up position.
4. Push and hold the switch again in the closed position 2.
5. Release the switch after the moonroof completes one full cycle from the tilt-up position to fully closed, then to fully open, and finally back to the fully closed position.
6. Confirm that the moonroof switch now operates normally.
If the moonroof still does not operate properly after completing this procedure, have the system inspected. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for professional service.
Auto-reverse function (when closing or tilting down the moonroof)
The auto-reverse function activates when the moonroof is closing or tilting down using automatic operation while the ignition switch is in the ON position or during the retained power period after the ignition is turned OFF.
Depending on environmental conditions or driving situations, the auto-reverse function may activate if resistance or an impact similar to an object being caught in the moonroof is detected.
WARNING
There are small areas immediately before the moonroof reaches the fully closed position that cannot be detected by the auto-reverse system. Always ensure that all passengers keep their hands, head, and other body parts inside the vehicle before closing the moonroof.
When closing
If the control unit detects an obstruction while the moonroof is sliding forward to close, the moonroof will immediately reverse direction and open backward.
When tilting down
If the control unit detects an obstruction while the moonroof is tilting down, the moonroof will immediately tilt upward.
If the auto-reverse function malfunctions and repeatedly opens or tilts up the moonroof, press and hold the tilt-down switch within 5 seconds after the event. The moonroof will then gradually close completely.
Before attempting this operation, make sure that nothing is caught in the moonroof opening.
WARNING
CAUTION
Sunshade
Open or close the sunshade by sliding it forward or backward manually to adjust sunlight entering the cabin.
If the moonroof does not close
Have the moonroof system checked and repaired as soon as possible.
It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for proper diagnosis and service.
