Nissan Sentra manuals

Nissan Sentra B18 (2020-2025) Owner's Manual: Brakes

If the brakes on your Nissan Sentra do not operate properly, have the brake system inspected as soon as possible. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.

Self-adjusting brakes

Your Nissan Sentra is equipped with self-adjusting brakes to help maintain proper brake pedal feel and braking performance.

The front and rear (if so equipped) disc brakes automatically self-adjust each time the brake pedal is applied. Rear drum brakes (if so equipped) self-adjust when the parking brake is applied.

WARNING

If the brake pedal height does not return to normal or feels abnormal, have the brake system inspected immediately. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.

Brake pad wear indicators

The disc brake pads on the Nissan Sentra are equipped with audible wear indicators. When the brake pads reach their wear limit, a high-pitched scraping or squealing sound will be heard while the vehicle is moving.

This sound may occur whether or not the brake pedal is depressed. If the wear indicator sound is heard, have the brake pads inspected and replaced promptly.

Under certain driving or weather conditions, occasional brake noise such as squeaking or squealing during light to moderate braking may occur. This is normal and does not affect braking performance.

Brake inspections should be performed at the recommended intervals. For additional details, refer to the "Maintenance and schedules" section of this manual.
