Nissan Sentra B18 (2020-2025) Owner's Manual: Battery

- If the battery is labeled "do not open", it is a maintenance-free battery and the battery fluid level should not be checked. For accurate battery condition assessment, it is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer or a qualified specialist workshop to confirm proper battery performance for your Nissan Sentra.
- Keep the battery surface clean and completely dry to prevent electrical leakage and corrosion.
- Clean the battery using a solution of baking soda and water to neutralize acid residue.
- Ensure that all battery terminal connections are clean, secure, and properly tightened.
- If the Nissan Sentra will not be used for 30 days or longer, disconnect the negative (−) battery terminal cable to help prevent battery discharge.
NOTE:
Care should be taken to avoid situations that may cause battery discharge and potential no-start conditions, including the following:
1. Installation or extended use of electronic accessories that draw power while the engine is not running, such as phone chargers, GPS units, dash cameras, DVD players, or other aftermarket devices.
2. The vehicle is not driven regularly or is driven only for short distances, which may prevent the battery from fully recharging.
In these situations, the battery may require periodic charging to maintain optimal battery health and performance.
WARNING
- Do not expose the battery to open flames or electrical sparks. Hydrogen gas generated by the battery is highly explosive and can cause serious injury or blindness. Do not allow battery fluid to contact skin, eyes, clothing, or painted surfaces. Sulfuric acid can cause severe burns.
- After handling the battery or battery cap, do not touch or rub your eyes. Thoroughly wash your hands. If battery acid contacts your eyes, skin, or clothing, immediately flush the affected area with water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
- When working on or near the battery, always wear suitable eye protection and remove all jewelry such as rings, watches, or bracelets.
- Battery posts, terminals, and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.
- Keep the battery out of the reach of children at all times.
- Do not tip or invert the battery.

NOTE:
Do not attempt to open the top of the battery.
This battery is not equipped with removable vent caps and is designed to operate as a sealed unit.
Jump starting
If jump starting becomes necessary, refer to the "Jump starting" section of this manual. If the engine of your Nissan Sentra does not start after jump starting, the battery may need to be replaced. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
