DESCRIPTION

CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial communication line for real time applications. It is an on-Nissan Sentra vehicle multiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Modern Nissan Sentra vehicle is equipped with many electronic control unit, and each control unit shares information and links with other control units during operation (not independent). In CAN communication, control units are connected with 2 communication lines (CAN High-line, CAN Low-line) allowing a high rate of information transmission with less wiring. Each control unit transmits/receives data but selectively reads required data only. CAN Communication Signal Chart. Refer to System Description.

Confirmation Procedure

1. PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

   1. CONSULT

      1. Ignition switch ON and wait for 2 seconds or more.

      2. Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “HANDS FREE MODULE”.

   Is DTC detected?

   YES>>

   Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

   NO>>

   To check malfunction symptom before repair. Refer to Intermittent Incident.

   NO>>

   Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION

   1. Check CAN communication. Refer to Trouble Diagnosis Flow Chart.

   Is DTC “U2148-87” displayed?

   YES >>

   Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.

   NO >>

   Check intermittent incident. Refer to Intermittent Incident.
