DESCRIPTION

CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial communication line for real-time application. It is an onNissan Sentra vehicle multiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Many electronic control units are equipped onto a Nissan Sentra vehicle, and each control unit shares information and links with other control units during operation (not independently). In CAN communication, control units are connected with 2 communication lines (CAN-High, CAN-Low) allowing a high rate of information transmission with less wiring. Each control unit transmits/receives data but selectively reads required data only. CAN Communication Signal Chart. Refer to CAN Communication Signal Chart.

Confirmation Procedure

1. PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

   1. CONSULT

      1. Ignition switch ON.

      2. Ignition switch OFF and wait at least 30 seconds.

      3. Ignition switch ON and wait at least 30 seconds or more.

      4. Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “IVC”.

      5. Check DTC.

   Is DTC U0079–00 detected?

   YES>>

   Proceed to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

   NO>>

   To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

   NO>>

   Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

1. PERFORM CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE AGAIN

   1. CONSULT

      1. Ignition switch ON.

      2. Erase DTC.

      3. Perform DTC confirmation procedure again. Refer to DTC Confirmation Procedure.

   Is DTC U0079–00 detected again?

   YES >>

   Replace TCU. Refer to Removal and Installation.

   NO >>

   Inspection End.
