Diagnosis Procedure

1. CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR

   1. Ignition switch OFF.

   2. Check the mating condition of TCM harness connector and CVT unit harness connector.

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   GO TO 2.

   NO >>

   Repair or replace damaged parts.

2. CHECK CONNECTOR TERMINAL

   1. Disconnect TCM harness connector and CVT unit harness connector.

   2. Check the connectors of TCM and CVT unit for water intrusion, or damage or corrosion of the terminals.

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   GO TO 3.

   NO >>

   Repair or replace damaged parts.

3. CHECK DETECTED DTC

   Are other solenoid valve malfunctions detected in addition to torque converter clutch solenoid?

   YES >>

   GO TO 4.

   NO >>

   GO TO 7.

4. CHECK SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT - 1

   1. Connect TCM harness connector.

   2. Check continuity (resistance) between CVT unit harness connector terminal and ground.

      CVT unit		—	Continuity (Resistance)
      Connector	Terminal
      F46	20	Ground	Existed (1 Ω or less)

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   GO TO 6.

   NO >>

   GO TO 5.

5. CHECK SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT - 2

   1. Disconnect TCM harness connector.

   2. Check continuity (resistance) between TCM harness connector terminal and CVT unit harness connector terminal.

      TCM		CVT unit		Continuity (Resistance)
      Connector	Terminal	Connector	Terminal
      F23	44	F46	20	Existed (1 Ω or less)

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   GO TO 6.

   NO >>

   Repair harness or connector.

6. CHECK TCM POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUITS

   Check TCM power supply and ground circuits. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   INSPECTION END

   NO >>

   Repair or replace damaged parts.

7. CHECK TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID CIRCUIT - 1

   Check continuity (resistance) between TCM harness connector terminal and CVT unit harness connector terminal.

   TCM		CVT unit		Continuity (Resistance)
   Connector	Terminal	Connector	Terminal
   F23	38	F46	5	Existed (1 Ω or less)

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   GO TO 8.

   NO >>

   Repair harness or connector.

8. CHECK TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID CIRCUIT - 2

   Check continuity between TCM harness connector terminal and ground.

   TCM		−	Continuity
   Connector	Terminal
   F23	38	Ground	Not existed

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   GO TO 9.

   NO >>

   Repair harness.

9. CHECK TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID

   Check resistance between CVT unit connector terminals.

   CVT unit		Test condition		Resistance
   Terminal
   5	20	CVT fluid temperature	20°C (68°F)	5.5 – 7.0 Ω
   			50°C (122°F)	6.0 – 8.0 Ω
   			80°C (176°F)	6.5 – 8.5 Ω

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   INSPECTION END

   NO >>

   Replace control valve due to torque converter clutch solenoid malfunction. Refer to Removal and Installation.
