Component Function Check

Component Function Check
  1. CHECK STOP LAMP OPERATION

      1. Ignition switch ON.

      2. With operating the brake pedal, check that the stop lamp and high-mounted stop lamp is turned ON.

        Depressed

        : Stop lamp and high-mounted stop lamp ON

        Fully released

        : Stop lamp and high-mounted stop lamp OFF

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    Stop lamp circuit is normal.

    NO >>

    Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

  1. CHECK SYMPTOM

    1. Check symptom (A or B).

      Symptom

      A

      Both stop lamps and the high-mounted stop lamp will not turn ON

      B

      Any of the stop lamps and the high-mounted stop lamp will not turn ON

    Which symptom is detected?

    A>>

    GO TO 2.

    B>>

    GO TO 8.

  2. CHECK FUSE

      1. Ignition switch OFF.

      2. Check if the following fuse is not blown:

        Signal name

        Location

        Fuse No.

        Capacity

        • Battery power supply (stop lamp)

        • Battery power supply (stop lamp switch)

        Fuse block (J/B)

    Is the fuse blown (open)?

    YES >>

    Replace the blown fuse after repairing the affected circuit.

    NO >>

    GO TO 3.

  3. CHECK BATTERY POWER SUPPLY (STOP LAMP)

      1. Disconnect BCM connector.

      2. Check voltage between BCM harness connector and ground.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    GO TO 4.

    NO >>

    Repair or replace harness.

  4. CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH POWER SUPPLY

    1. Check voltage between stop lamp switch harness connector and ground.

    YES >>

    GO TO 5.

    NO >>

    Repair or replace harness.

  5. CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH SIGNAL

    With operating the brake pedal, check voltage between BCM harness connector and ground.

    YES >>

    Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation.

    NO >>

    GO TO 6.

  6. CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH

    1. Check stop lamp switch. Refer to Component Inspection.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    GO TO 7.

    NO >>

    Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.

  7. CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT (OPEN)

      1. Disconnect following connectors:

        • BCM

        • Stop lamp switch

      2. Check continuity between BCM harness connector and stop lamp switch harness connector.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    Check intermittent incident. Refer to Intermittent Incident.

    NO >>

    Repair or replace harness.

  8. CHECK STOP LAMP

    1. Check the stop lamp. Refer to Component Inspection.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES>>

    GO TO 9.

    NO>>

    Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.

  9. CHECK STOP LAMP / HIGH-MOUNTED STOP LAMP OUTPUT VOLTAGE

    1. CONSULT

      1. Ignition switch ON.

      2. Select “STOP LAMP 1” or “STOP LAMP 2” in “Active Test” mode of "BCM(HEAD LAMP)".

      3. With operating the test items, check voltage between BCM harness connector and ground.

  10. CHECK STOP LAMP / HIGH-MOUNTED STOP LAMP POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT (SHORT)

      1. Ignition switch OFF.

      2. Disconnect following connectors:

        • BCM

        • Rear combination lamp LH (body side)

        • Rear combination lamp RH (body side)

        • High-mounted stop lamp

      3. Check continuity between BCM harness connector and ground.

    YES >>

    Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation.

    NO >>

    Repair or replace harness.

  11. CHECK STOP LAMP / HIGH-MOUNTED STOP LAMP POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT (OPEN)

      1. Ignition switch OFF.

      2. Disconnect following connectors:

        • BCM

        • Rear combination lamp LH (body side)

        • Rear combination lamp RH (body side)

        • High-mounted stop lamp

      3. Check continuity between BCM harness connector and each stop lamp harness connector.

  12. CHECK STOP LAMP / HIGH-MOUNTED STOP LAMP GROUND CIRCUIT

    1. Check continuity between each stop lamp harness connector and ground.

    Stop lamp: Replace corresponding rear combination lamp (body side) bulb. Refer to Bulb Replacement.

    YES >>

    High-mounted stop lamp: Replace the high-mounted stop lamp. Refer to Removal and Installation.

    NO >>

    Repair or replace harness.
