DTC DETECTION LOGIC

POSSIBLE CAUSE

EGR volume control valve

FAIL-SAFE

Engine operating condition in fail-safe mode
Fail safe mode		Nissan Sentra Vehicle behavior
Device fix mode		This mode fixes the electric IVT motor and the EVT control solenoid valve in the reference position. The intake manifold runner control valve motor is turned OFF (intake manifold runner control valve opens).

DTC Confirmation Procedure

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P0402 is displayed with other DTC, first perform the trouble diagnosis for other DTC.

Is applicable DTC detected?
YES >>
Perform diagnosis of applicable. Refer to DTC Index.
NO >>
GO TO 2.
PRECONDITIONING

If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following procedure before conducting the next test.
1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
2. Turn ignition switch ON.
3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
TEST CONDITION:

Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is more than 11 V at idle.

GO TO 3.
PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
1. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
2. Shift the selector lever to D range and wait at least for 1 minute at idle speed.
3. Check 1st trip DTC.
Is 1st trip DTC detected?
YES >>
Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.
NO >>
INSPECTION END

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P0402 is displayed with other DTC, first perform the trouble diagnosis for other DTC.

Is applicable DTC detected?
YES >>
Perform diagnosis of applicable. Refer to DTC Index.
NO >>
GO TO 2.
CHECK EGR VOLUME CONTROL VALVE VISUALLY
1. Remove the EGR volume control valve. Refer to Removal and Installation.
2. Visually check the EGR volume control valve for cracks and damage.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >>
INSPECTION END
NO >>
Replace EGR volume control valve. Refer to Removal and Installation.
