When the Nissan Sentra is stopped on a hill, the hill start assist system automatically maintains brake pressure to help prevent the vehicle from rolling backward while the driver transitions from the brake pedal to the accelerator.
The hill start assist system operates automatically under the following conditions:
The hill start assist system does not operate when the shift lever is in the N (Neutral) or P (Park) position, or when the vehicle is stopped on a flat, level surface.
