Nissan Sentra B18 (2020-2025) Owner's Manual: Chassis Control

The Chassis Control system in the Nissan Sentra is an advanced electronic control module designed to enhance overall vehicle stability, comfort, and responsiveness by coordinating multiple intelligent driving support functions.

The chassis control system incorporates the following features:

Intelligent Trace Control

The Intelligent Trace Control system in the Nissan Sentra continuously analyzes the driver’s steering input and acceleration or braking patterns. Based on this information, it precisely controls brake pressure at individual wheels to support smoother cornering, improve line tracing through curves, and enhance overall vehicle response.

When the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system is switched off, Intelligent Trace Control is also disabled, as both systems work together to support vehicle stability.

If a chassis control warning message appears in the vehicle information display, this may indicate that the Intelligent Trace Control system is not functioning correctly. In such cases, have the Nissan Sentra inspected as soon as possible. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for professional diagnosis and service.

WARNING

The effectiveness of Intelligent Trace Control may vary depending on driving conditions. Always operate the Nissan Sentra with caution, remain attentive, and adapt your driving to road and traffic conditions.

During Intelligent Trace Control operation, you may feel a slight pulsation in the brake pedal and hear mechanical noises. These sensations are normal and indicate that the system is functioning as intended.

You may also experience mild deceleration while the system is active. This behavior is expected and does not indicate a malfunction.

Active Ride Control

The Active Ride Control system in the Nissan Sentra monitors upper body motion using wheel speed data and selectively applies brake pressure to all four wheels. This action helps reduce uncomfortable body movement when driving over uneven or undulated road surfaces, contributing to a smoother and more comfortable ride.

When the VDC system is turned off, Active Ride Control is also disabled.

While Active Ride Control is operating, you may hear operational noises and notice slight deceleration. These characteristics are normal and indicate proper system operation.

If a chassis control warning message appears in the vehicle information display, it may signal a malfunction of the Active Ride Control system. Have the Nissan Sentra inspected promptly. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for service.

Intelligent Engine Brake

The Intelligent Engine Brake system enhances vehicle control by providing subtle deceleration through CVT gear ratio adjustments. Using steering input and multiple sensor signals, the system supports smoother cornering and reduces the need for frequent brake pedal use in the Nissan Sentra.

Additionally, Intelligent Engine Brake assists deceleration by adjusting the gear ratio in response to the driver’s brake pedal input, improving speed control and reducing driver workload.

When the VDC system is switched off, the Intelligent Engine Brake function is also disabled.

If a chassis control warning message appears in the vehicle information display, this may indicate that the Intelligent Engine Brake is not operating properly. Have the system checked as soon as possible. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.

WARNING

The Intelligent Engine Brake may not be effective under all driving conditions. Always drive the Nissan Sentra carefully and attentively.

When the Intelligent Engine Brake is active, the tachometer needle may rise and engine noise may increase. These effects are normal and confirm that the system is operating correctly.

You may also feel a gentle deceleration during operation. This is expected behavior and does not indicate a malfunction.
