  • When ignition switch is ON.

  • When front wheel sensor LH power supply voltage is normal.

Threshold

When an open circuit is detected in front wheel sensor LH circuit.

Diagnosis delay time

1 second or less

POSSIBLE CAUSE

Note:

Confirm if DTC is PAST or CRNT. If DTC is CRNT, proceed with Diagnosis Procedure. If DTC is PAST, clear DTC. Do not replace the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) for a PAST DTC.

The following functions are suspended:

  • ABS function (when 1 wheel or more are malfunction)

  • EBD function (only when more than 2 wheel are malfunction)

  • Brake assist function (when 1 wheel or more are malfunction)

  • Hill start assist function (when 1 wheel or more are malfunction)

Confirmation Procedure

Confirmation Procedure

  1. PRECONDITIONING

    1. If “Confirmation Procedure” has been previously conducted, always placing ignition switch in the OFF position and wait at least 10 seconds before conducting the next test.

    >>

    GO TO 2.

  2. CHECK DTC DETECTION

    1. CONSULT

      1. Start the engine.

        Note:

        Wait at least 10 seconds after start the engine.

      2. Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of "ABS".

    Is DTC “C1061-1D” detected?

    YES >>

    “CRNT” is displayed: Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

    YES >>

    “PAST” is displayed: Inspection End. (Erase "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of "ABS".)

    NO >>

    To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

    NO >>

    Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CAUTION:

Never check between wheel sensor harness connector terminals.

  1. CHECK WHEEL SENSOR

      1. Ignition switch OFF.

      2. Check the front wheel sensor LH for damage.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    GO TO 3 .

    NO >>

    GO TO 2 .

  2. REPLACE WHEEL SENSOR (1)

    1. CONSULT

      1. Replace the front wheel sensor LH. Refer to Removal and Installation.

      2. Erase "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of “ABS”.

      3. Ignition switch OFF → ON → OFF.

        Note:

        Wait at least 10 seconds after placing ignition switch in the OFF or ON position.

      4. Start the engine.

        Note:

        Wait at least 10 seconds after start the engine.

      5. Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of "ABS".

    Is DTC “C1061-1D” detected?

    YES >>

    GO TO 3 .

    NO >>

    Inspection End.

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR

      1. Ignition switch OFF.

      2. Check the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector for disconnection or looseness.

      3. Check the front wheel sensor LH harness connector for disconnection or looseness.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    GO TO 5 .

    NO >>

    Repair / replace harness or connector, securely lock the connector, and GO TO 4.

  4. PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT (1)

    1. CONSULT

      1. Erase "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of “ABS”.

      2. Ignition switch OFF → ON → OFF.

        Note:

        Wait at least 10 seconds after placing ignition switch in the OFF or ON position.

      3. Start the engine.

        Note:

        Wait at least 10 seconds after start the engine.

      4. Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of "ABS".

    Is DTC “C1061-1D” detected?

    YES >>

    GO TO 5 .

    NO >>

    Inspection End.

  5. CHECK ABS ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT (CONTROL UNIT) POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT

    1. Check the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) power supply and ground circuit. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES>>

    GO TO 6 .

    NO>>

    Repair / replace harness, connector, fuse, or fusible link.

  6. CHECK TERMINAL

      1. Ignition switch OFF.

      2. Disconnect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector and then check the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

      3. Disconnect front wheel sensor LH harness connector and check the front wheel sensor LH pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    GO TO 8.

    NO >>

    Repair / replace harness, connector, or terminal, and GO TO 7.

  7. PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT (2)

    1. CONSULT

      1. Connect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.

      2. Connect front wheel sensor LH harness connector.

      3. Erase "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of “ABS”.

      4. Ignition switch OFF → ON → OFF.

        Note:

        Wait at least 10 seconds after placing ignition switch in the OFF or ON position.

      5. Start the engine.

        Note:

        Wait at least 10 seconds after start the engine.

      6. Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of "ABS".

    Is DTC “C1061-1D” detected?

    YES >>

    GO TO 8.

    NO >>

    Inspection End.

  8. CHECK WHEEL SENSOR HARNESS

      1. Ignition switch OFF.

      2. Disconnect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.

      3. Disconnect front wheel sensor LH harness connector.

      4. Check the continuity between ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector and front wheel sensor LH harness connector. (Check the continuity while turning steering wheel left and right, or while moving center harness in wheel housing.)

    Repair / replace harness or connector, and GO TO 9.

  9. PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT (3)

    1. CONSULT

      1. Connect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.

      2. Connect front wheel sensor LH harness connector.

      3. Erase "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of “ABS”.

      4. Ignition switch OFF → ON → OFF.

        Note:

        Wait at least 10 seconds after placing ignition switch in the OFF or ON position.

      5. Start the engine.

        Note:

        Wait at least 10 seconds after start the engine.

      6. Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of "ABS".

    Is DTC “C1061-1D” detected?

    YES >>

    GO TO 10.

    NO >>

    Inspection End.

  10. REPLACE WHEEL SENSOR

    1. CONSULT

      1. Replace the front wheel sensor LH. Refer to Removal and Installation.

      2. Connect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.

      3. Erase "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of “ABS”.

      4. Ignition switch OFF → ON → OFF.

        Note:

        Wait at least 10 seconds after placing ignition switch in the OFF or ON position.

      5. Start the engine.

        Note:

        Wait at least 10 seconds after start the engine.

      6. Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of "ABS".

    Is DTC “C1061-1D” detected?

    YES >>

    Replace the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to Removal and Installation.

    NO >>

    Inspection End.
