The viscous paper-type air cleaner filter element used in the Nissan Sentra is designed for single use only and must not be cleaned or reused. The filter should be replaced according to the maintenance intervals listed in the "Maintenance and schedules" section of this manual to ensure proper engine performance and fuel efficiency.
To remove the air cleaner filter:
1. Unlatch the retaining clips A that secure the air cleaner cover.
2. Pull up carefully at points B and remove the cover.
3. Pull up and remove the air cleaner housing assembly.
4. Remove the air cleaner filter. Wipe the inside of the air cleaner housing and the cover using a clean, damp cloth. Install the new air cleaner filter and reassemble the components in reverse order.
NOTE:
After installing a new air cleaner filter, make sure the air cleaner cover is properly seated in the housing and all retaining clips are securely latched to prevent unfiltered air from entering the engine.
WARNING
In-cabin microfilter
Your Nissan Sentra may be equipped with an in-cabin microfilter designed to trap dust, pollen, airborne particles, and certain odors, helping to improve interior air quality for occupants.
The in-cabin microfilter is located behind the instrument panel. Replace the filter at the specified intervals listed in the "Maintenance and schedules" section of this manual.
If filter replacement is required, it is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer to ensure correct installation.
The in-cabin microfilter should be replaced if airflow from the vents decreases noticeably or if the windows fog up easily during heater or air conditioner operation.
