Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning light
When the ignition switch of the Nissan Sentra is placed in the ON position, the ABS warning light illuminates briefly and then turns off. This indicates that the Anti-lock Braking System is functioning correctly.
If the ABS warning light illuminates while the engine is running or while driving, it may indicate that the ABS is not operating properly. Have the system inspected as soon as possible. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for professional service.
If an ABS malfunction occurs, the anti-lock function is disabled. The conventional brake system will continue to operate normally, but without anti-lock assistance.
Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection system warning
light
This indicator light illuminates when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position and turns off after the engine is started.
The light will remain illuminated when the Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection system is manually set to OFF through the vehicle information display.
If this light illuminates or flashes while the AEB with Pedestrian Detection system is enabled, it may indicate that the system is temporarily unavailable due to conditions such as sensor obstruction or system limitations.
Front
passenger air bag status light
The front passenger air bag status light indicates whether the front passenger air bag is ON or OFF, depending on seat occupancy, weight detected by the sensor, and seat belt usage in the Nissan Sentra.
Low
tire pressure warning light
Your Nissan Sentra is equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that continuously monitors the air pressure of all four road tires, excluding the spare tire.
The low tire pressure warning light alerts the driver when one or more tires are significantly underinflated, or when the TPMS is not functioning correctly.
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, this light illuminates for about 1 second and then turns off, indicating normal system operation.
Low tire pressure warning
If the Nissan Sentra is driven with low tire pressure, the warning light will illuminate.
A message stating "Tire Pressure Low – Add Air" will appear in the vehicle information display.
When this warning is displayed, safely stop the vehicle and adjust the tire pressure of all four tires to the recommended COLD tire pressure shown on the Tire and Loading Information label located on the driver’s door opening.
The low tire pressure warning light does not automatically turn off after correcting tire pressure. After inflating the tires to the recommended pressure, drive the Nissan Sentra at speeds above 16 mph (25 km/h) to allow the TPMS to update and turn off the warning light. Always use a reliable tire pressure gauge to verify tire pressure.
The "Tire Pressure Low – Add Air" warning will appear each time the ignition switch is placed in the ON position as long as the low tire pressure warning light remains illuminated.
TPMS malfunction
If the TPMS is not operating properly, the low tire pressure warning light will flash for approximately 1 minute after the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. After flashing, the light will remain illuminated. Have the system checked promptly. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
When the TPMS malfunction occurs, the "Tire Pressure Low – Add Air" message will not be displayed, even though the warning light remains on.
WARNING
Radio waves emitted by the TPMS may interfere with certain electronic medical equipment. Individuals using a pacemaker should consult the medical equipment manufacturer regarding possible effects before driving the Nissan Sentra.
If the warning light does not illuminate when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, have the vehicle inspected as soon as possible. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
If the low tire pressure warning light illuminates while driving the Nissan Sentra, avoid sudden steering inputs or abrupt braking maneuvers. Gradually reduce vehicle speed, pull off the road to a safe location, and stop the vehicle as soon as it is safely possible. Driving with under-inflated tires can cause permanent tire damage and significantly increase the risk of tire failure. Severe vehicle damage may occur, which could lead to a collision and result in serious personal injury or death. Check the tire pressure of all four tires immediately. Adjust the tire pressure to the recommended COLD tire pressure shown on the Tire and Loading Information label located in the driver’s door opening. This procedure is required to turn the low tire pressure warning light off. If the warning light remains illuminated while driving after the tire pressure has been correctly adjusted, a tire may be flat or the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) may be malfunctioning. If a flat tire is found, replace it with the spare tire as soon as possible. If no tire is flat and all tires are properly inflated, have the Nissan Sentra inspected promptly. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
When driving the Nissan Sentra with a wheel that is not equipped with a TPMS sensor, such as the spare tire, the TPMS will not operate correctly. In this condition, the low tire pressure warning light will flash for approximately 1 minute and then remain illuminated. Have the original tires reinstalled and/or the TPMS system reset as soon as possible. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for these services.
Replacing tires with sizes or specifications not originally approved by NISSAN may adversely affect proper TPMS operation in the Nissan Sentra.
CAUTION
The TPMS is not a substitute for regular tire pressure inspections. Always check tire pressure routinely, even when no warning light is illuminated.
If the vehicle is driven at speeds below 16 mph (25 km/h), the TPMS may not operate accurately.
Always install the specified tire size on all four wheels to ensure correct TPMS performance.
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) (if so equipped)
If the Malfunction Indicator Light illuminates steadily or begins to blink while the engine is running, it may indicate a potential emission control system malfunction in the Nissan Sentra.
The MIL may also illuminate steadily if the fuel-filler cap is loose or missing, or if the vehicle runs out of fuel. Ensure that the fuel-filler cap is properly installed and securely tightened, and verify that the vehicle contains at least 3 gallons (11.4 liters) of fuel in the fuel tank.
After several normal driving trips, the
light should turn off if no additional emission control system malfunction is detected.
If this indicator light illuminates steadily for approximately 20 seconds and then blinks for about 10 seconds when the engine is not running, it indicates that the vehicle is not ready for an emission control system inspection or maintenance test.
Operation
The Malfunction Indicator Light may operate in one of the following two modes:
MIL illuminated steadily – An emission control system malfunction has been detected.
If a Loose Fuel Cap warning appears in the vehicle information display, check
the fuel-filler cap. If the cap is loose or missing, tighten or reinstall it
securely and continue driving the Nissan Sentra. The
light should turn off after a few normal driving trips. If the
light does not turn off after several trips, have the vehicle inspected. It
is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service. The vehicle
does not need to be towed.
MIL blinking – An engine misfire has been detected that may damage the emission control system. To reduce or prevent emission system damage:
Do not drive at speeds above 45 mph (72 km/h).
Avoid hard acceleration and sudden deceleration.
Avoid steep uphill driving whenever possible.
If possible, reduce the amount of cargo being carried or towed.
The MIL may stop blinking and remain steadily illuminated. In this case, have the vehicle inspected as soon as possible. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service. Towing is not required.
CAUTION
Continuing to operate the Nissan Sentra without having the emission control system inspected and repaired may result in poor driveability, reduced fuel economy, and potential damage to the emission control system.
