SYSTEM DIAGRAM

OUTLINE

• The following lamps are controlled by the interior room lamp timer control function of the BCM:

  • Front room/map lamp assembly*

  • Rear personal lamp*

• The trunk room lamp is controlled by the trunk room lamp control function of the BCM.

• Push-button ignition switch illumination is controlled by the push-button ignition switch illumination control function of the Intelligent Key unit.

*: Interior room lamp timer control operates when the switch position is DOOR.

INTERIOR ROOM LAMP TIMER CONTROL

Interior Room Lamp Timer Basic Operation

• The following lamps turn ON and OFF (gradual brightening and dimming) by the interior room lamp timer:

  • Front room/map lamp assembly

  • Rear personal lamp

• Timer operating time is 20 seconds.

• Brightening time is 3 second and dimming time is 1.5 seconds.

• The BCM judges the Nissan Sentra vehicle condition with the following items and activates the interior room lamp timer:

  • Ignition switch status

  • Door switch signal

  • Door lock and unlock switch signal

  • Door unlock status signal

  • Door lock/unlock request signal

Interior Room Lamp ON Operation

• The BCM always turns the room lamp relay ON to turn on the interior room lamps when any door opens.

• The BCM activates the interior room lamp timer in any of the following conditions to turn the interior room lamp ON for a period of time:

  • Status of all doors are OPEN –> CLOSE

  • Engine running –> Ignition switch OFF

  • Door unlock signal is detected when all doors close with ignition switch OFF

The timer restarts if a new condition is input during the timer operating time.

Interior Room Lamp OFF Operation

The BCM stops the timer in any of the following conditions to turn the interior room lamp OFF:

• The timer operating time is expired

• Ignition switch is OFF –> Engine running

• Door lock signal is detected when all the doors close with the ignition switch OFF

TRUNK ROOM LAMP CONTROL

• The BCM turns the trunk room lamp ON when the trunk lid is open.

• The BCM turns the trunk room lamp OFF when the trunk lid is closed.

PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH ILLUMINATION CONTROL

• The BCM turns the push-button ignition switch illumination ON when the ignition switch is ON.

• The BCM turns the push-button ignition switch illumination OFF when the ignition switch is OFF.

Interior Room Lamp Battery Saver System

OUTLINE

• The interior room lamp battery saver is controlled by the BCM.

• The BCM turns applicable lamps OFF depending on the Nissan Sentra vehicle condition. This function prevents battery discharge if the driver neglects, turning OFF any lamps.

  Applicable lamps:

  • Front room/map lamp assembly

  • Rear personal lamp

  • Trunk room lamp

  • Vanity mirror lamp LH

  • Vanity mirror lamp RH

INTERIOR ROOM LAMP BATTERY SAVER FUNCTION

• The BCM turns the room lamp relay ON and keeps the interior room lamp power supply ON continuously when the ignition switch is ON.

• When the ignition switch is OFF, the BCM operates the timer for 10 minutes and then turns the room lamp relay OFF to cut the interior room lamp power supply.

  Note:

  When the ignition switch is OFF and all doors are locked, the BCM operates the timer for 20 seconds and then turns the room lamp relay OFF to cut the interior room lamp power supply.

• The BCM restarts the timer when any of the following signal changes occur while operating the timer:

  • Ignition switch status

  • Door switch signal

  • Ajar switch signal

  • Door lock and unlock switch signal

  • Door unlock status signal

  • Door lock/unlock request signal

OUTLINE

Each illumination lamp is controlled by each function of BCM and combination meter.

Control by BCM

• Parking, license plate, side marker and tail lamp control function

• Combination switch reading function

• Auto light function

ILLUMINATION CONTROL

• The BCM detects the combination switch (lighting and turn signal switch) condition by the combination switch reading function.

• The BCM transmits the position light request signal to the combination meter according to the tail lamp ON condition. Refer to System Description (halogen headlamp) or System Description (LED headlamp).

• The combination meter enters nighttime mode according to the position light request signal and provides the power supply to each illuminated component.

• The combination meter controls the brightness of each illuminated component according to the illumination control switch signal from the illumination control switch.
