Nissan Sentra B18 (2020-2025) Owner's Manual: Seats

Nissan Sentra front and rear seats layout and adjustment overview

This section describes the seat design and adjustment features of the Nissan Sentra, helping drivers and passengers achieve a safe, comfortable, and ergonomically correct seating position.

WARNING

  • Do not ride in a moving Nissan Sentra when the seatback is reclined. This is extremely dangerous because the shoulder belt will not rest properly against your body. In the event of a collision, you may be thrown forward and suffer serious neck or other injuries.

You may also slide under the lap belt, which can result in severe internal injuries.

  • For maximum protection while the Nissan Sentra is in motion, the seatback should remain upright. Always sit well back in the seat with both feet on the floor and adjust the seat correctly. For more details, refer to “Precautions on seat belt usage”.
  • After adjusting the seat, gently rock it to confirm that it is securely locked in place.
  • Do not leave children unattended inside the vehicle. Children may accidentally activate switches or controls, or cause the vehicle to move, which can lead to serious accidents.
  • To reduce the risk of injury or death caused by unintended vehicle operation, never leave children, individuals requiring assistance, or pets unattended in your Nissan Sentra. On warm days, the temperature inside a closed vehicle can rise rapidly and become life-threatening.
  • Do not adjust the driver’s seat while driving. Sudden seat movement may cause loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of an accident.
  • The seatback should not be reclined more than necessary for comfort.

Seat belts are most effective when occupants sit upright and well back in the seat. Reclining the seatback increases the risk of sliding under the lap belt and sustaining injuries.

CAUTION

When adjusting the seat position, ensure that no moving parts are contacted to avoid possible injury or damage to the seat mechanism.

Front manual seat adjustment

The Nissan Sentra may be equipped with manually adjustable front seats designed to provide reliable positioning and support.

For detailed seat adjustment procedures, follow the instructions provided in this section.

Folding rear seat

WARNING

  • Never allow anyone to ride in the cargo area or on the rear seat when it is in the folded-down position. Passengers without proper seating and restraints are at serious risk of injury or death in the event of a collision or sudden stop.
  • Always secure all cargo using ropes or straps to prevent it from sliding or shifting. Do not stack cargo higher than the seatbacks. Unsecured cargo may cause serious personal injury during hard braking or an accident.
  • When returning the rear seatbacks to the upright position, make sure they are fully latched and locked. Improperly secured seatbacks can result in passenger injury during a sudden stop or collision.
  • Closely supervise children around vehicles at all times. Prevent children from playing inside the Nissan Sentra or becoming trapped in the trunk, where serious injury could occur. Always keep the vehicle locked, with the rear seatbacks and trunk lid securely latched, and store car keys out of children's reach.
