WARNING
Head restraints/headrests in the Nissan Sentra are designed to supplement other vehicle safety systems. When properly adjusted, they may provide additional protection against neck and head injuries in certain rear-end collisions.
Adjustable head restraints/headrests must always be set correctly, as described in this section. Check the adjustment whenever a different person uses the seat. Do not attach accessories to the head restraint/headrest stalks and never remove the head restraint/headrest while the seat is in use. Do not use a seating position if the head restraint/headrest has been removed. If it was removed, reinstall and properly adjust it before anyone sits in that position. Failure to follow these instructions may reduce the effectiveness of the head restraints/headrests and increase the risk of serious injury or death in a collision.

Remove

Use the following procedure to remove the head restraint/headrest from a Nissan Sentra seat:
1. Pull the head restraint/headrest upward to the highest position.
2. Push and hold the lock knob.
3. Remove the head restraint/headrest from the seat.
4. Store the head restraint/headrest in a secure location so it does not become loose inside the vehicle.
5. Reinstall and properly adjust the head restraint/headrest before the seating position is used.
Install

1. Align the head restraint/headrest stalks with the holes in the seat. Ensure the head restraint/headrest is facing the correct direction. The stalk with the notch or notches must be inserted into the hole with the lock knob.
2. Push and hold the lock knob while pressing the head restraint/headrest downward.
3. Properly adjust the head restraint/headrest before an occupant uses the seating position.
Adjust

For adjustable head restraints/headrests, position the head restraint/headrest so its center aligns with the center of your ears. If your ears are still positioned higher than recommended, adjust the head restraint/headrest to its highest position.

For non-adjustable head restraints/headrests, ensure the lock knob is fully engaged in the notch before riding in that designated seating position.

Raise
To raise the head restraint/headrest in the Nissan Sentra, pull it upward until the desired height is reached.
Always confirm that the head restraint/headrest is correctly positioned and that the lock knob is fully engaged in the notch before riding in that designated seating position.

Lower
To lower the head restraint/headrest, push and hold the lock knob, then gently push the head restraint/headrest downward to the preferred position.
After adjustment, make sure the head restraint/headrest is securely locked by verifying that the lock knob is engaged in the notch before driving the Nissan Sentra.
