Brake pedal switch A

(Brake Switch "B" Circuit High)

Diagnosis condition

  • When a deceleration G of -0.13 G or more occurs after the Nissan Sentra vehicle speed exceeds 30 km/h (19 MPH).

  • When the brake normal open switch (stop lamp switch) is pressed.

Threshold

Brake pedal position switch is released until 2 seconds have passed after the Nissan Sentra vehicle has stopped when the diagnosis condition is established. Malfunction is confirmed when the above condition is established 5 times.

Idle Start/Stop System

When a DTC is detected, the start/stop indicator lamp blinks slowly and the idle start/stop system operation is prohibited.

When ECM detects error while operating the idle start/stop system, ECM restarts the engine.

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK DTC PRIORITY

    If DTC P0573 is displayed with DTC P0605, first perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for DTC P0605.

    Is DTC P0605 detected?

    YES >>

    Perform diagnosis for P0605. Refer to DTC Description.

    NO >>

    GO TO 2.

  2. PRECONDITIONING

    If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following procedure before conducting the next test.

    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

    2. Turn ignition switch ON.

    3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

    TEST CONDITION:

    Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is more than 11 V at ignition switch ON.

    >>

    GO TO 3.

  3. PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

    1. Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 2 seconds.

    2. Repeat the following step 5 times.

      1. Drive the Nissan Sentra vehicle and accelerate to 48 km/h (30 MPH).

      2. Decelerate from 48 km/h (30 MPH) to 0 km/h (0 MPH) within 7 seconds.

      3. Stop the Nissan Sentra vehicle for 2 seconds or more.

      CAUTION:

      Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.

      Note:

      This procedure may be conducted with the drive wheels lifted in the shop or by driving the Nissan Sentra vehicle. If a road test is expected to be easier, it is unnecessary to lift the vehicle.

    3. Check DTC.

    Is DTC P0573 detected?

    YES >>

    Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

    NO-1 >>

    To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

    NO-2 >>

    Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

  1. CHECK DTC PRIORITY

    If DTC P0573 is displayed with DTC P0605, perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC P0605.

    Is applicable DTC detected?

    YES >>

    Perform diagnosis of applicable. Refer to DTC Description.

    NO >>

    GO TO 2.

  2. CHECK OVERALL FUNCTION-1

    With CONSULT

    1. Turn ignition switch ON.

    2. Select “BRAKE SW1” and “BRAKE SW2” in “DATA MONITOR” mode of “ENGINE” using CONSULT.

    3. Check “BRAKE SW1” and “BRAKE SW2” indication as per the following conditions.

    1. Turn ignition switch ON.

    2. Check the voltage between ECM harness connector terminals as per the following.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    GO TO 3.

    NO >>

    GO TO 4.

  3. CHECK BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

    1. Turn ignition switch OFF.

    2. Disconnect brake pedal position switch harness connector.

    3. Check the voltage between brake pedal position switch harness connector and ground.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    GO TO 4.

    NO >>

    Perform the trouble diagnosis for power supply circuit.

  4. CHECK BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH

    Check the brake pedal position switch. Refer to Component Inspection.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    GO TO 5.

    NO >>

    Replace brake pedal position switch. Refer to Exploded View.

  5. CHECK BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT

    1. Disconnect ECM harness connector.

    2. Check the continuity between brake pedal position switch harness connector and ECM harness connector.

    3. Also check harness for short to ground and to power.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    Check intermittent incident. Refer to Intermittent Incident.

    NO >>

    GO TO 6.

  6. REPLACE ECM

    Replace ECM. Refer to ECM : Removal & Installation.

    >>

    INSPECTION END
