Nissan Sentra B18 (2020-2025) Owner's Manual: Hood

1. Pull the hood lock release handle 1, located on the lower driver-side door pillar, until the hood lifts slightly.
2. Move to the front of the Nissan Sentra and locate the secondary safety lever 2 positioned between the hood and the grille. Push the lever sideways using your fingertips.
3. Carefully raise the hood 3.
4. Remove the support rod 4 and securely insert it into the designated slot marked by an arrow to hold the hood open.
NOTE:
Always place the support rod only in the specified slot. Incorrect placement may cause the hood to fall unexpectedly.
When handling the support rod, hold the coated sections only. Avoid touching the bare metal areas, as they may be hot immediately after the engine has been turned off.
To close the hood, return the support rod to its original retaining position. Lower the hood to approximately 12 in (30 cm) above the latch, then release it to allow proper engagement of the hood latch mechanism.
WARNING
- Always ensure that the hood is fully closed and securely latched before driving the Nissan Sentra. Failure to do so may cause the hood to open while driving, leading to an accident.
- If steam or smoke is visible coming from the engine compartment, do not open the hood. Opening the hood in such conditions could result in serious injury.
