Component Function Check

1. CHECK THE ILLUMINATION OF THE EPS WARNING LAMP

   1. 1. Ignition switch ON.

      2. Check that the EPS warning lamp turns ON, then, EPS warning lamp turns OFF after the engine is started.

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES>>

   Inspection End.

   NO>>

   Perform trouble diagnosis. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

Diagnosis Procedure

1. PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT

   1. CONSULT

      1. Ignition switch ON.

      2. Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “EPS/DAST 3”.

   Is any DTC detected?

   YES>>

   Check the DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

   NO>>

   GO TO 2.

2. CHECK EPS WARNING LAMP SIGNAL

   1. CONSULT

      1. Ignition switch ON.

      2. Select “WARNING LAMP” in “Data Monitor” mode of “EPS/DAST 3”.

      3. Check that the “Data Monitor” item is ON.

         CAUTION:

         Engine should not be running for step 3.

      4. Start the engine.

         CAUTION:

         Never drive the Nissan Sentra vehicle during the test.

      5. Check that the “Data Monitor” item is OFF.

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES >>

   Perform the trouble diagnosis for combination meter power supply circuit. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure (with Type A meter) or Diagnosis Procedure (with Type B meter).

   NO >>

   EPS control unit is malfunctioning. Replace steering gear column assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation.
