Nissan Sentra B18 (2020-2025) Service Manual: Cvt Position
Inspection
Place selector lever in “P” position, and place ignition switch ON (engine stop).
Make sure that selector lever can be shifted to other than “P” position when brake pedal is depressed. Also make sure that selector lever can be shifted from “P” position only when brake pedal is depressed.
Move the selector lever and check for excessive effort, sticking, noise or rattle.
Confirm the selector lever stops at each position with the feel of engagement when it is moved through all the positions. Check that the actual position of the selector lever matches the position shown by the shift position indicator and the manual lever on the transaxle.
The method of operating the selector
lever to individual positions correctly should be as shown.

(A): Press shift selector button to operate shift selector.

(B): Shift selector can be operated without pressing the shift selector button.
When selector button is pressed in “P”, “R” or “N” position without applying forward/backward force to selector lever, check button operation for sticking.
Confirm the back-up lamps illuminate only when selector lever is placed in the “R” position. Confirm the back-up lamps do not illuminate when the selector lever is pushed toward the “R” position when in the “P” or “N” position.
Confirm the engine can only be started with the selector lever in the “P” and “N” positions.
Make sure transaxle is locked completely in “P” position.
Adjustment
Remove the center console. Refer to Removal and Installation.
Shift the selector lever to the “P” position.
CAUTION:
Rotate the wheels at least a quarter turn and be certain the Park position mechanism is fully engaged.
Open the slider (2) and pull out
the stopper (1) as shown.
Confirm the Shift selector lever
(1) is fully engaged in the “P” position.
Push the stopper (2) in, until it snaps into place.
Push the slider (3) until it snaps into place.
Push the selector lever forward to confirm the adjustment is locked, you may hear a click.
Install the center console. Refer to Removal and Installation.
