Confirmation Procedure

Confirmation Procedure
  1. PRECONDITIONING

    If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following procedure before conducting the next test.

    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

    2. Turn ignition switch ON.

    3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

    TESTING CONDITION:

    Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is more than 11 V at idle.

    >>

    GO TO 2.

  2. CHECK DTC PRIORITY

    If DTC P2015 is displayed with DTC P0643, first perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC 0643

    Is applicable DTC detected?

    YES >>

    Refer to DTC Description.

    NO >>

    GO TO 3

  3. PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

    1. Turn ignition switch ON.

    2. Warm up the engine to the normal operating temperature and keep the engine speed at idle for 10 seconds.

      Note:

      Warm up the engine until “COOLAN TEMP/S” on “DATA MONITOR” of CONSULT reaches at least 60°C (140°F).

    3. Keep the engine speed 5,000 rpm for at least 10 seconds under no load.

    4. Check 1st trip DTC.

    Is 1st trip DTC detected?

    YES >>

    Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

    NO-1 >>

    To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

    NO-2 >>

    Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

Dtc Diagnosis Procedure

DTC Diagnosis Procedure
  1. CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL VALVE

    1. Turn ignition switch ON.

    2. Warm up the engine to the normal operating temperature.

      Note:

      Warm up the engine until “COOLAN TEMP/S” on “DATA MONITOR” of CONSULT reaches at least 60°C (140°F).

    3. Fully release accelerator pedal and make sure that “TUMBLE POS SEN” indicates between 3.1 V to 4.7 V.

    4. Keep the engine speed 5,000 rpm that “TUMBLE POS SEN” indicates between 0.3 V to 2.1 V.

    5. Check 1st trip DTC.

    Is 1st trip DTC detected?

    YES >>

    Replace intake manifold. Refer to Removal and Installation.

    NO >>

    GO TO 2.

  2. CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL VALVE MOTOR CIRCUIT

    1. Turn ignition switch OFF.

    2. Disconnect ECM harness connector and intake manifold runner control valve motor harness connector.

    3. Check the continuity between intake manifold runner control valve motor harness connector and ECM harness connector.

    4. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    GO TO 3.

    NO >>

    Repair or replace malfunctioning part.

  3. CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL VALVE

    Check intake manifold runner control valve. Refer to Component Inspection.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    GO TO 4

    NO >>

    Replace intake manifold. Refer to Removal and Installation.

  4. CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL VALVE POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT

    1. Turn ignition switch OFF.

    2. Disconnect ECM harness connector and intake manifold runner control valve position sensor harness connector.

    3. Check the continuity between intake manifold runner control valve position sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.

    4. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    GO TO 5.

    NO >>

    Repair or replace malfunctioning part.

  5. CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL VALVE POSITION SENSOR

    Check intake manifold runner control valve position sensor. Refer to Component Inspection.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES >>

    INSPECTION END

    NO >>

    Replace intake manifold. Refer to Removal and Installation.
