PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID C

(Pressure Control Solenoid "C" Performance/Stuck Off)

1

Diagnosis conditions

Diagnosis is permitted when all of the following conditions are satisfied:

a) Ignition voltage ≥ 9.01 V

b) Battery voltage ≥ 9.01 V

c) CVT fluid temperature ≥ -20 °C (-4 °F)

d) Lock-up pattern: Lock-up ON or Lock-up OFF

e) Engine speed > 450 rpm

Signal

Threshold

When the following conditions "a" and "b" are satisfied for the specified period [5 sec] continuously.

Keep the same conditions for specified period again after interval.

a) Secondary pulley sensor pressure < Line pressure sensor pressure - Variation

b) Secondary pulley sensor pressure < Secondary pulley sensor instruction pressure - Variation

[Interval]

  • Movement of target pressure

⇒ Target pressure under satisfied oil pressure difference judgement - Current target pressure ≥ 1 MPa

  • Stop valid judgement ⇒ Nissan Sentra Vehicle speed ≤ 3 km/h (2 MPH)

Diagnosis delay time

5 seconds × 2 count

2

Diagnosis conditions

Diagnosis is permitted when all of the following conditions are satisfied:

a) Engine speed > 625 rpm

b) Shift position: Other than P/N position

c) CVT fluid temperature ≥ -20 °C (-4 °F)

d) Power supply voltage ≥ 10 V

e) A drop in secondary pressure is detected during steady state. (Both "e-1" and "e-2" are satisfied twice in the same DC. There is an interval of 30 seconds between the first and second judgment):

e-1) When all of the following condition are satisfied and this state is maintained for 1.52 seconds:

e-1-1) Current accelerator opening - Accelerator opening when secondary pressure drop is judged ≤ 5 deg

e-1-2) Current Nissan Sentra vehicle speed - Vehicle speed when secondary pressure drop is judged ≤ 15 km/h

e-2) When all of the following condition are satisfied and this state is maintained for 1.52 seconds:

e-2-1) Actual secondary pressure < oil balance low limit pressure

e-2-2) Instruction pressure of secondary pressure after filtering - Actual secondary pressure: More than 0.25 MPa

Signal

Threshold

Instruction pressure of secondary pressure - Actual secondary pressure: 1.2 MPa or more

Diagnosis delay time

10 seconds

3

Diagnosis conditions

Diagnosis is permitted when all of the following conditions are satisfied:

a) Engine speed > 625 rpm

b) Shift position: Other than P/N position

c) CVT fluid temperature ≥ -20 °C (-4 °F)

d) Power supply voltage ≥ 10 V

e) A drop in secondary pressure is detected during the transitional period. (Both "e-1" and "e-2" are satisfied)

e-1) When all of the following condition are satisfied and this state is maintained for 1 second:

e-1-1) Actual secondary pressure < oil balance low limit pressure

e-1-2) Instruction pressure of secondary pressure after filtering - Actual secondary pressure: More than 0.25 MPa

e-2) When any of the following conditions are satisfied

e-2-1) Oil balance pressure - Actual secondary pressure ≥ 2 MPa

e-2-2) Instruction secondary pressure - Actual secondary pressure ≥ 2 MPa

Signal

Threshold

Instruction pressure of secondary pressure - Actual secondary pressure: 1.2 MPa or more

Diagnosis delay time

10 seconds

Note:

DC stands for “DRIVING CYCLE” and indicates a series of driving cycle of “Ignition switch OFF → ON → driving → OFF”.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Harness or connector

  • Secondary pressure solenoid valve

  • Control valve

  • TCM

FAIL-SAFE

  • Nissan Sentra Vehicle speed < 40 km/h (25 MPH) or Input speed < 1300 rpm

    • Selector shock is large

    • Start is slow

    • Acceleration is slow

    • Lock-up is not performed

    • Nissan Sentra Vehicle speed is not increased

    • Stop/start system prohibited

  • Other then the above

    • Selector shock is large

    • Start is slow

    • Acceleration is slow

    • Nissan Sentra Vehicle speed is not increased

    • Stop/start system prohibited

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

  1. PREPARATION BEFORE WORK

If another "DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE" occurs just before, ignition switch OFF and wait for at least 10 seconds, then perform the next test.

    TESTING CONDITION:

Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is more than 10 V.

    >>

    GO TO 2.

  2. CHECK DTC DETECTION

    1. Start the engine.

    2. Drive the Nissan Sentra vehicle and maintain the following conditions for 20 seconds or more.

      Shift position

      : "D" position

      CVT fluid temperature

      : 25 °C (77 °F) - 120 °C (248 °F)

      Nissan Sentra Vehicle speed

      : 40 km/h (25 MPH) or more

      CAUTION:

Be careful of the driving speed.

    3. Stop the Nissan Sentra vehicle and wait at least 30 seconds.

    4. Repeat step 2 to 3.

    5. Check the DTC.
