CHECK PARKING BRAKE WARNING LAMP

Start the engine.

Check the operation of the brake warning lamp by operating the parking brake.
Condition
Warning lamp status
Parking brake applied
ON
Parking brake released
OFF

Is the inspection result normal?
YES >>Replace the combination meter. Refer to Removal and Installation.
NO >>GO TO 2.

CHECK PARKING BRAKE SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT

Check the parking brake switch signal circuit. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >>GO TO 3.
NO >>Repair or replace harness or connector.

CHECK PARKING BRAKE SWITCH UNIT

Check the parking brake switch. Refer to Component Inspection.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>Replace the combination meter. Refer to Removal and Installation.
NO>>Replace the parking brake switch. Refer to Removal and Installation (with hand lever with rear drum brakes), Removal and Installation (with foot pedal with rear drum brakes), Removal and Installation (with hand lever with rear disc brakes) or Removal and Installation (with foot pedal with rear disc brakes).
